Respiratory Care!! Please Help!?
Hi all,
I live in the States and I'm getting into college soon.... I've picked Respiratory Care as my major... I've already done some research on the subject online... But it would really help alot if someone (who's into RC) gives me information.... Not asking for too many details but i would like to know from your personal experience, How does the job feel? What are some of the most important things about it?? How much can one earn from it? And so on.... It will really add alot to my study.....
P.S. Do not post trashy answers or comments off topic.... If you don't know anything about it please don't answer.... (saying this because i've noticed people post some ridiculous stuff, even when it is serious or someone is really looking for help)

You will start out around 40,000-45,000 a year. Depending on the hospital can be a very challenging and rewarding job. Must be able to handle stress well and multi-task. A lot of emotional stress as you deal with the sickest of patients on their death beds. Could be a Pre mature infant who has to be on a ventilator to a teenager or adult who got into a car wreck and can't breathe without the help of a machine. After they wake up with a tube down their throat or a hole in their neck(for a trach) several days or weeks later, you have to explain what happened. i love what I do, You get to help a lot of people who would not be alive if it not for the ventilator. i deal a lot with Cystic Fibrois patients who are waiting for a lung transplant or who just had one. The schooling is difficult but it is doable if you like math and science. Good luck
